Hungerford Food Festival

At the Arcade, we love getting involved with local community projects. We also love eating! So Hungerford Food Festival always goes down well!

To show our support and get people interested we have set up a display window dedicated to food. With kitchenalia, cheese crates, a picnic set and even a Victorian sweet maker, we are ready to sample the delights of the festival.

Hungerford Food Festival is a family friendly community event that has been celebrating local food producers and artisans since 2009.

The festival is proud to be part of British Food Fortnight and in 2103 they were delighted to come joint third in The Telegraph’s nationalBring Home the Harvest competition.

The festival will take place on Sunday 4th October right outside the Arcade, on the High Street.  There will be locally produced goods such as cheese, meat, vegetables and even cider.

The hog roast will be right outside our front door (which I am very much looking forward to). The Town Hall will also be filled with stalls from local producers and cooking demonstrations will be taking place up and down the high street.

Friends of Hungerford Arcade: An evening with Ken Haddock

If you’re looking for a good night out on Monday 20th July, look no further!  Ken Haddock is a talented singer songwriter from Belfast.  He is a good friend of Unit 47 stallholder, Philippa Harper.  Philippa has arranged for Ken to play a live acoustic set at the New Greenham Arts Centre in Newbury and by all accounts, it’s a night not to be missed!

Ken has been writing and performing for more than 15 years and is an institution in hKen+Haddock+Empire+04is home town of Belfast, Northern Ireland.  His songs have been described by song-writing legend, Bruce Cockburn, as “Subtle and beautiful, delivered as the are with fine singing and guitar work.”

An acoustic set will truly showcase Ken as a songwriter and singer.  It promises to be a very special performance.

For tickets contact the Corn Exchange Box Office on 0845 5218 218.

Hungerford Arcade The Emerald Isle

                       Paul Olivia and Rita

Hungerford Arcade has always been a magnet for buyers both from home and abroad.  They love the wide selection of antiques and collectables and of course, the reasonable prices – not to mention the friendly staff. This week, we had a lovely couple over from Ireland, Paul and Olivia. They had a wonderful time at the Arcade and Paul, a gentle giant of a man, had a great sense of humour which got us all laughing.

Hungerford Arcade Steam Engines

Hungerford Arcade events are always very popular and the Model Steam Traction Engines were no exception. The sun was shining brightly and the town was buzzing with activity.

A crowd soon started to  gather to watch the action as all the engines were being set up.

You could feel the anticipation in the air as the boilers were filled with water and the fire set to build up a good head of steam, then waiting for that wonderful noise only a traction engine can make.
