Antiques Trade Gazette 13 March 2021

We were pleased to appear in the Antiques Trade Gazette as we prepare to re-open after lockdown.

One of their reporters contacted Adrian Gilmour, our co-owner, for his thoughts on lockdown and what we had accomplished.  Amongst other things, he told them about Erik Thorbjornsen, who is normally a regular visitor, who called us from Norway asking for our help in buying stock for his summer season.

We were very pleased to be able to help and spent time on WhatsApp video calls to enable him to see what we had and also sent videos of units for him to select stock.  In all, he bought items from 23 different dealers, so everyone was very happy!  The picture which accompanies the article is from one of his earlier visits.

Homes and Antiques Magazine October 2020

We were delighted to be part of a feature entitled ‘Embracing Autumn’ in the October 2020 edition of Homes and Antiques magazine with items purchased in the Arcade featuring on the cover and in a two page spread.  We had several enquiries for the items displayed which, unfortunately, had all been sold by the time the article went to press.

Television’s Antiques Road Trip

We had a very early start to an exciting day on Thursday, 30th July 2020. when we had the Antiques Road Trip come to the Arcade.  We opened the shop an hour or so later so that the filming could take place when there were no customers around due to the coronavirus. The film crew and experts arrived at 7.30 am and everything was ready for them to proceed.

Philip, myself (Rita) and Tim,  social distancing!

Members of the film crew.

They were very professional, extremely helpful and made it all run like clockwork.

Philip’s big disappointment of the day!

Philip fell in love with this old roller and was determined to purchase it. Unfortunately, due to its size and weight, there was no way of transporting it to where the auction was to be held.

Tim told me that he reads our Newsletter every month and looks forward to receiving it.  He will get a lovely surprise this month.  Thank you Tim.

Bargain Hunt Hosted by Charlie Ross

Hungerford Arcade Charlie Ross, Rita and Adrian Bargain Hunt May 2016

The shows were hosted by that “very cheeky chappy”, Charlie Ross and as usual, he caused quite a stir.  Everyone seemed to want to shake his hand and have their photographs taken with him (I was no exception!).  He was such good fun and between filming enjoyed chatting to everyone.
